MEMORIES

I can remember as a quite young child, sitting on the verandah with my mother, her apron on and we shelling peas for tea, me with a bowl in my lap to catch them and she with an apron full of shells in her lap.. We'd laugh and talk about what had been happening, what we were going to cook and how.  In times like this my mother who loved the sunshine would sit there with me and speak of her past as a child. These times were good, fun and loving.  I can remember coming home one evening, mum had been mowing the lawn with the flymo electric mower, she showed me her hand what a mess, something damp caused her to be electrocuted, she said she understood when people told her their hair stood on end, because hers had done just that, she had tried with one hand to pull the plug out of the mower and had caught the full wattage which was eating into her hand. Her screams were heard from next door and the rest is history, what a woman, she lived to tell that tale to add to the many she had experienced as a girl.   Please people no electric products near the sink, bath, loo;  water of any kind.

WHERE POWER SEEMS TO BE THE MUCH SOUGHTAFTER PRIZE

Like a chain circling life, this planet did evolve,  where conscience plays no part and links become dissolved. A conundrum which needs healing.  "The Lion King" film song The Circle of Life - this I believe is more meaningful than would first be thought.

Why do we see man prey upon each other, seeking wealth not of knowledge but of material gain.  Does someone with obscene wealth see themselves as a benefactor or a controller?

This week has been thus far (Tuesday) a sad news week.  Where a mother loses her son and then his daughter, her granddaughter to suicide, one has to begin to wonder why, how, is the system affecting us all. Another son missing without a trace, this is missing person's week and there are 35,000 missing persons in Australia.  Why?

Meanwhile our governments go on testing, spraying, seeding, forcing all sorts of poison into our atmosphere and commodities without any thought to quality controls of the past.

If it hasn't happened to you, do you care? Do you think you can make a difference? We can all make a difference and it is time we looked at all the variables, the possibilities and stood up and are counted and make those people responsible accountable.

DIFFERENT LEADER SAME INSTRUCTIONS/SAME OLD PROPAGANDA

Do you know what really cheeses the community off is the same people running the same projects, just every now and then climbing over one another to get a prime job first.   I could sit here and name ad finitum power hungry people who probably in their own minds have convinced themselves they are doing a community service; but they ain't fooling most of us at all.   All we see are business people who belong to say, Geelong Chamber of Commerce, G21, Committee for Themselves, Geelong,  - all making decisions alongside governments,(there are other sources which possibly in some cases be added here) when hey guess what, the ordinary everyday joe is left out of the equation, most of these people would never have had the background many of us have, or if so, have long ago attained a monied position in society, giving them no understanding of how it is in today's grass roots world.
None of the people aforementioned would necessarily have any idea of how we the community subsist, excuse me, exist, yet they push on and force markets up, real estate out of control, infra structure not adequate, etc.etc.Wouldn't it be good if vision played a part in everyday plans for our future as a City and "real people" had the say in what was needed to be done.    I firmly believe it would not matter which political party were leading us, the matters would be handled in the same vein, just different team, different guernsey.
Ah well we are all clever in hindsight.    What do we think of  Fruiterer Frank selling 50% to America.  I cringe at the thought that Arnotts Biscuits, Vegemite and other things are not ours any more.  If these people really wanted to help us they would be taking the S7 toxic waste poison out of our drinking water, for health and environmental reasons.

A LESSON IN DESTINY

One's worst nightmare would be for a child to not come home.  I wonder would we blame ourselves, question whether we did enough or too much, could it have been we were too strict, too expectant, too judgemental or as an adult does our child need to look at where he/she is at and work it for themself.    There are "crosses to bear" in all walks of life; some seem to breeze through the everyday nuances which for some would be stresses.  Or is it that this is a persona one shows to the world when at heart they are crying out for acknowledgement. As a mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister, cousin I have been blessed with love.  My baby brother did not come home when he was 23, a beautiful soul who loved and trusted too much. My parents were never quite the same again.  Their light shone slightly dimmer, their love never wavered, but they journeyed through their lives with invisible scars.  We, as a family, were the poorer for having lost a beautiful, searching soul who had shown so much love for others who let him down in his time of need.

MISH MASH OF THOUGHTS

Is it wise to question what is being done to us in the name of science or sit back and take what is fed us without asking why.   Does this make us complacent, apathetic or stupid.  In whose eyes are we seeing ourselves, do we feel ok with who/what we are or are we striving to be what someone else expects of us?

I watch as politicians ridicule each other in what they call debate, is denigration of another the way to prove one's worth or the right to be accepted in society.      Is name calling the answer, respect would be a fine thing. Understanding, acceptance, listening and creating change could be seen as a good thing if communication is sound.
Profound thoughts for the day.
